Checklist for New Entrepreneurs – 4 – Create your Commitment

Create your Commitment

④ Create your Commitment

After the confirmation of your business relationship in the IT-Tool, you have to prepare a commitment together with your Host Entrepreneur (HE).

The commitment has three objectives:

  • It serves as a cooperation agreement between NE, HE, NIO (New IO), HIO (Host IO) and the European Commission.
  • It allows to manage expectations and defines the activities to be carried out for both sides (NE and HE) during the business exchange. We strongly recommend to discuss this in a video or telephone call.
  • It allows IOs and the European Commission to check, if the stay complies to the programme requirements, i.e. the commitment will be checked and approved from different parties.

For orientation, you will find the structure of the commitment here.

We strongly recommend to use the following template to prepare your commitment.

Example questions to prepare for meetings with the Host Entrepreneur (HE):

  • Which expectations does the HE have towards the relationship? (so that they can be addressed in the commitment)
  • To what extent is the HE available during the week?
  • How to balance the work on the own business plan and the contribution to the business of the HE?
  • What are your own expectations, e.g. towards mentoring?

also to do…

  • After preparing your commitment together, please send it to NIO and HIO for feedback. They will support you in the further development to get it ready for the official approval in the IT-Tool.
  • Consult the preparatory information of your target country
  • Check, if you should get an additional language training or an intercultural training to be best prepared for the stay abroad.
